Abstract

The discussion proposed in this research aims to establish a relationship between urban transport policies and the challenges that must be overcome in order to have more qualified mobility systems. This is a theoretical review, based on the ideas of authors such as Cunha (2011), Ferraz (2004), Foucault (2008), Nicolas-O (1981), Raffestin (1993), Ratzel (2019), Santos (1988) and Vasconcellos (2013), which enables the identification of concepts and essential variables in the articulation of ideals for an analysis and discussion on urban mobilitand the production of space. The methodology seeks to arrive at an understanding, based on the analysis of mobility, that is underpinned by its socio-political characteristics and the perspective of a social right governed by the government and dominated by economic power. According to the analyses, the absence of adequate urban mobility policies can generate social problems and is a transformative factor with the potential to reduce spatial inequalities.
