Abstract

The launch of an academic project is, to say the least, challenging. Its continuation is even more challenging, since it is now more crucial than ever to remain current without losing continuity. Obtaining resources becomes more relevant, since it can hinder collective reflection on the reality that confronts us. However, this does not mean that the urgency of one takes away the importance of the other. The delivery of the second issue of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Economics, Business and Government is a clear example that these challenges can be overcome. We are pleased to have given voice to more colleagues who have explored diverse intellectual horizons. The creation of this space for dialogue is presented as an urgent need for the community of the Tonalá University Center of the University of Guadalajara. Among the substantive functions of the institution are the dissemination of knowledge, the dissemination of advances in research and the promotion of new perspectives to understand the reality in which we live. This project seeks to promote the transformation of the university community itself, encouraging critical reflection on change in the context of the community. The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Economics, Business and Government aims to be a publication whose central axis deals with issues that affect the most relevant thematic cores on the public agenda around contemporary issues in economics, business and government that can be addressed from different areas of science, whether social, natural or exact and of interest to the academic community and the general public. That is, the Journal, as a declaration of principles, seeks to constitute a space for technical, academic and scientific debate on issues that concern our communities from an interdisciplinary perspective. One of the most ambitious purposes from the beginning is that the manuscripts published in the Journal reflect an interdisciplinary approach in all its extension. Interdisciplinarity is not a starting point, but a goal that we aspire to reach through collaboration in various fields of study. The selection of large interconnected themes such as economics, business and government is a wise choice, since they provide a frame of reference for reflection without limiting, restricting or excluding it. In fact, they intuitively suggest a close relationship between these areas. Economics has directly analyzed issues related to business decisions and has provided valuable explanations for understanding government decisions. For its part, business sciences have conducted studies on government practice or, at least, have adopted its methodologies, concepts, techniques or strategies to explain phenomena in this area. Moved by this spirit of transformation, the Journal as a space for reflection seeks to foster a profound change in ourselves as collaborators, teachers of a discipline and members of a much broader community. We aspire for this change to be reflected in our world. Therefore, we seek that over the years the publications be completely interdisciplinary, propose new approaches, carry out a rigorous critique and synthesis of epistemological assumptions, methodologies and other relevant elements. With this challenge in mind, we begin the second issue entitled “Current research topics in governance, economic and territorial development. Theoretical approaches and case studies.” As a novelty, this issue also proposed a section of policy briefs that seeks to disseminate and disseminate interdisciplinary research to relevant audiences. Within this group of audiences are public decision makers who require constant systematized information in a compact and easy-to-understand manner. In light of this, the presentation of policy briefs would be a great support. Its purpose will be to offer solid scientific knowledge to decision makers in an accessible and easy-to-use format. The idea is to link the academic production of the Centro Universitario de Tonalá of the University of Guadalajara with the professional, public, social and private spheres. Finally, it is important to thank all the people who in one way or another contributed to the realization of this second issue. Their support has been fundamental to its success. We express our deep gratitude to the anonymous reviewers for their valuable reading and their constructive comments, which have undoubtedly allowed us to improve the quality of the works presented.
